Song of the Week

SOW & POW XI

I seem to be in a total scrap-rut at the moment - there are sooooooooooo many delicious new lines coming out after CHA and I am mojo-less *sobs*
But then again, maybe mojo saves herself for when the new lines are ready to ship :)

Actually, strictly speaking it is not 100% true that I am total mojo-less - I seem to be more into making cards and altered projects right now. so, I am going to share one of my FMC's (five minute cards) and one altered project with you.

The card was made by collecting all sorts of scraps that have been lying around on my scrap table and probably didn't even take 5 minutes after all to be put together.
Products used: ** Cardstock - Papermill ** Papers - Jenni Bowlin, Scenic Route ** Chipboard - Rusty Pickle **

Thank#4

I have spent the last two days playing around making an Exploding Box, which have been around for quite some time now but I never really fancied doing them - until now. Funny what a bandaged foot can do if you are not allowed out and about...
Whilst I was crafting along I also took pictures to complete a step-by-step guide, which will be available as a FREE pdf to everyone soon.
Products used: ** Papers - Wild Asparagus ** Buttons, Tags - Rusty Pickle ** Rub Ons - Kaiser Craft ** Chipboard shapes - Rusty Pickle, Cosmo Cricket ** Stamps - Maya Road, Anna Griffin ** Ink - Nick Bantok ** Stickers - Making Memories **

Now, moving swiftly on to my Song Of the Week.
After I managed to shock some of my German friends with my fave German artists, why don't I try to shock everyone now with one of favourite bands from the 90's

If I was you - I would turn the volume down, to ease the shock :)

And??
Did I manage to make you run for cover and quickly press the stop button... *snigger*

I shall better leave you with something a little less in-your-face and present you with a kinda cute Word Of the Week

tatterdemalion \tat-uhr-dih-MAYL-yuhn; -MAY-lee-uhn\, noun:

1. A person dressed in tattered or ragged clothing; a ragamuffin.
2. Tattered; ragged.

I am still peeing my pants over the fact that the word ragamuffin is just as alien to me as tatterdemalion, and I actually think I prefer ragamuffin....must be the muffin pig in me

SOW and POW X

Yup, I owe you one SOW and POW from last Tuesday, when I was busy having my bunion chopped off. That's why you get double this week.
Can I get a WOO and a HOO, please??

The last week saw me overdosing on many fabulous songs on {you tube} many of which I saved to my pc so I can all annoy you with it...he he

This week all my English speaking friends will feel a bit left out as I have been browsing through my German back-catalogue and I quite enjoy playing some of my old favourites. The first band coming up -> man, I have been following them since their first album came out in 1983 and I even was a penpal to their drummer for a while. They are fun, controversial and are still going strong - I just wish I could see them live again *sobs*

This 1996 video was a piss take on all the boy bands who zoomed up from every corner in those days. Even though I love many boy bands that have been (and still are) around, I find this video hilarious.

The next one might be a surprise for my German friends - I bet you never pegged me for a Schlager fan, right? This dude here has been my favourite Schlager singer since 1978 and I am not afraid to admit it... Wolle rocks!!!!

Ok, now that you had to endure all that what about some fantastic Words of the Week?

glutinous \GLOOT-nuhs\, adjective:
Of the nature of glue; resembling glue; sticky.

and

hyperbole \hy-PUHR-buh-lee\, noun:
Extravagant exaggeration.

I love them - not that I'll be ever able to use them, I just love learning new words which sound as if I know what I am talking about...he he

~*~ SOW & POW IX and Contest time!!!! ~*~

The other day we had so much fun amongst the {scrapping the music} dt girls to talk about our fave songs from the 80's, which resulted in the majority of us hunting down videos on {youtube} to share with each other.

What better idea to kick off today with one of my favouroite songs from the 80's (considering that I have about 2,398 faves it was surprisingly easy to come up with this one).
It just makes me happy to listen to this song and reminds me of my first holidays in the UK. I went at least two time a year on a shopping trip to London in those days.

One thing that still gets me today is how could I NOT notice just how camp George Michael was acting?? It never ever crossed my mind that he was gay, and whilst I was mainly drooling over Andrew Ridgely I wouldn't have kicked ole George of my bed either...little did I know then...tsk, tsk

{click here to view}

As for my word of the day I have just digged out one of the first ones I have saved to my lappy, so you're getting oldies but goldies today.

contrite \KON-tryt; kuhn-TRYT\, adjective:

1. Deeply affected with grief and regret for having done wrong; penitent; as, "a contrite sinner."
2. Expressing or arising from contrition; as, "contrite words."

~*~ SOW - WOW VIII ~*~

I bet you though I forgot, didn't ya?? Well, I guess you'd be right about that - I have totally forgotten about my SOW and WOW {I love writing that...it makes me giggle}. Over the last 10 days or so I had real issues remembering which day of the week we are on and for the last three days I could have sworn it was Friday - the term 'wishful thinking' springs to mind...

Anyway - let's not dwell on it and carry on swiftly to my Song Of the Week.
Before you have a look at this clip there is something vital you need to know about me - I am as shallow as they come. S-H-A-L-L-O-W big time when it comes to looks.
You know how everyone always says "Looks are not really that important...as long as he is funny, understanding and sensible I don't care what he looks like"

Bull.

Shit.

When this video first came out the last thing on my mind was if any of those guys would be funny, or understanding - I just wanted to get lost in all that hair *sigh*
Seriously men with long hair get me ALL the time - I turn into a giggling teenager when a man with long curly hair looks at me - these dudes are just so, so dang 'hairy' and that was the SOLE reason why I bought their album way back then...I still have no idea what the song is about, whenever I see that video I hyperventilate and lick the screen.

But, in my defense my shallowness has improved WAY back from when I was a teenager - then I thought every guy who looked like a member of the Bay City Rollers was hot...so, please cut me some slack before you dismiss the following eye candy

Phew, I think I need a cold shower now....

Now, how can I follow that up with a fitting Word Of the Day?? Impossible, so I am not even going to try.

defenestrate\dee-FEN-uh-strayt\, transitive verb:
To throw out of a window.

I bet though if anyone can, the lovely Trace will probably come up with a good use for today's word.

Oh, and before I forget - you might want to make notes of the WOW's I have posted so far, because they might form part of contest I will be posting in July...and you can win a fab prize if you play along, too!

Now before I close I have to tell you just how amazed I continue to be at the generosity of {chartpak}, the mother company of {frances meyer}. Being on their Design Team is one of the best things ever...Not only are they incredibly supportive of their team but they sometimes send us stuff - just because.

Like a couple of days ago, their Creative Director asked us if we would have some use from some {ad markers}. Now I have been hunting all over the web for the {copic markers} and found them financially out of my league. So, of course I said that I would love to try a couple if I may.

Look what arrived at my door today
One hundred different shades - just because...

Marker

Today I was thankful for:
** the generous gift from Chartpak
** having one of the best jobs EVAH, with the nicest colleagues and boss EVAH
** my wonderful online friends

~*~ POW VI Winner & SOW - WOW VII ~*~

Whaaaaaaaaaaaa - time is really running away from me lately. So much do to at work and so much do at home that I feel like a little roadrunner at the moment....

Anyhoo, first off I would like to say congratulations to {barbara} who was chosen by random.org as my RAK winner for the {frances meyer chipboard}.

Hey Kimmy What is that Skull/crossbones in the kit below? Our kids mascot is the Pirates and they use the skull/crossbone I need one of those!

Congrats Nat on winning the rak! LOL! Your right Kimmy too bad you were not able to give it to her in person.

Email me your addy chica and I pop some nice shapes for you in the mail :)

Landk This lunchtime I had a wonderful surprise when I found out my altered chipboard frames made Project of the Day at {create my keepsake}. Oh and I also progressed to the second stage of their Last Scrapper Standing contest, so keep your fingers crossed for me, that this weeks challenge will see me progress through to round #3.

Speaking of CMK, I received my first Kit from them the other day and all I can say is RUN don't walk to sign up for their Kits: AWESOME value for money!

But no on to more important things, like Song Of The Week *snorts* - yeah, yeah you won't be able to escape it as I love ploughing through {youtube} looking for my faves. This week I have chosen a group of chicks who I love so much. Not many of you will know that apart from Rock Music my second fave music style is Country and these ladies have put the pop and funk into country big time.

{click here} to see the vid.

On to my Word Of The Day now, which I think sounds just totally out of there if brought up in a conversation:

verdure \VUR-jur\, noun:

Green; greenness; freshness of vegetation; as, the verdure of the meadows in June.

Now, somehow I cannot see myself talking like that, but then again...stranger things have happened

This means; Congratulations to Nat!!!! {to think I could have taken those sheets with me last week....grmpf <- just kidding!}

Cannnnn't wait to seee you!!!!!Have fun this weekend!!!!

Now that we got that out of the way, how about some new music, hu?
My Song for this week is one I haven't listened to for ages but the video still brings a smile to my face these days - so inoffensive and just plain nice. The guys had to learn to play and sing backwards so that they looked as if they played "normal" when everything else in the background was going upside down and back and forth. The brothers used to be to nicknamed the Timotei Twins because of their hair and it is pretty cool that they are actually the sons of {ricky nelson}....

This video can't be embedded, therefore if you wanna see it, you will need to click on {this link} - sorry about that.

Moving on swiftly, it seems that my Word Of The Day is pretty fitting with the Twins....

moiety \MOY-uh-tee\, noun:

1. One of two equal parts; a half.
2. An indefinite part; a small portion or share.
3. One of two basic tribal subdivisions.

Actually I already have an idea for a layout using that word....

And then there is the Product Of The Week, of course. If you are anything like me, you can NEVER EVER have enough chipboard in your ever growing stash collection, right? No matter how hard I try not to buy anymore, there seems to be one or two still falling in my basket every time I shop.

I really love the 8,5 x 11 chipboard sheets from Frances Meyer, which come in different flower patterns and Tags & Bookmarks. Each sheet comes with 6 - 10 different shapes and they are so fun to work with.
They can be purchased for the tiny amount of 65p {here} or you leave a comment under this post to be in with a chance to win one of these sheets....good luck everybody

~*~ SOW - WOW - POW V ~*~

It is that time of week again when you have to endure strange videos and a lot of silly blabbering - but then again, what's different to any other post I do then *snort*

There will be no SOW - WOW - POW next week as I am on a one week break in Germany to visit my friend {nat} - who will hold a workshop at {scrapbook king}. I look forward getting my fingers dirty and to also finally meet the wonderful {andrea}.

That means of course that this weeks song has to be something really special - and it is, at least for me. Lyndon's most favourite band in the whole world and I have to agree - they are THE ones who ruled rock (and still do)

I couldn't find an exciting Word of the Week, so you have to make do with the "exiting"

sub rosa \suhb-ROH-zuh\, adverb:

1. Secretly; privately; confidentially.
2. Designed to be secret or confidential; secretive; private.

Lastly - here is my {product of the week}, which is a real favourite of mine lately: Vintage book sheets. Gotta love them and they are not always that easy to find in the old writing style. I seem to be using them on almost every project these days and as always you will have the chance to win yourself a set by leaving a comment underneath this post. The winner will be posted after I come back from my holiday around 10th June - good luck!Vintpaper

~*~ SOW - WOW - POW IV ~*~

Now tell me - how on earth did you survive the last two weeks without my words of wisdom, hu? HU??

I know it must have been so dang hard and I try to make up for it with some extra special stuff today *snigger*

First off is one of my all-time favourite bands with one of my all-time favourite song of theirs. Gosh they take me back to the fun filled 80's but have a look for yourselves

They are just the coolest EVAH!!!!

My Word of the Day is kinda lame, compared to the ones I found before, but still - it's something different I guess:

lionize \LY-uh-nyz\, transitive verb:

To treat or regard as an object of great interest or importance

I guess no one is lionizing this blog entry right now *lmbo*

Last but as always by no means least is my Product of the Week and I have to say that one of my favourite things to work with on any kind of projects are {tags and tickets}  - so, if you leave a comment under this post you will be put into the draw to win a selection of my favourite tags and tickets.

Thanks for reading as always and have a Happy Humpday

~*~ SOW - WOW - POW III ~*~

It is that time of the week again - Wacky Wednesday....wooooohooooo

Right now I am totally into the following song and I just love the video to bits. It's really nothing exiting and done so many times before but somehow it just hit a nerve with me.

Somehow I think my Word Of the Week fits neatly with the above rock song, watcha think?
lionize \LY-uh-nyz\, transitive verb:
To treat or regard as an object of great interest or importance.

And it also fits perfectly well with my Product Of the Week. This Wednesday I showing of my {bad} crochet skills *snigger* The other day, when I was bored and without computer I sat and did a couple of crochet flowers for upcoming projects. Little did I know those suckers are so quick to do and all of a sudden I was surrounded by them....so, what better idea than to put them up for sale.

Crochetbrown

You are in with a chance to win a set of 4 flowers {2 beige and 2 brown} if you leave a comment under this post. Alternatively, if you don't trust my Random Number Generator, you can of course buy some of the flowers {here}

~*~ SOW - WOW - POW II ~*~

No, I haven't gone cartoony on you, I just can't be bothered  to write Song Of the Week, Word Of the Week and Product Of the Week out in the title....yeah, I know not only am I beautiful but also very clever...ha ha ha ha ha (and so dang funny)

Are you ready for another Wednesday full of incredibly important information?? I am sure you're itching to know which pearls of wisdom I am going to throw at you so I am not gonna drag this out any longer.

You have to excuse the next video - in my defense when those boys were around I was a in full puberty mode and therefore I didn't know any better. I was sooooooooooo in love, sat crying in front of the telly when they came on (Lyndon says it's probably because deep down I knew they were ugly...but he's a bloke so what does he know). Granted, when I look at them today I do wonder what puberty does to do because quite frankly - they are NOT good looking AT ALL (and yes I WAS that shallow in my teenage years - I liked bands because of their looks and not because of their music)...but their music still rocks my world today *sigh*

How can I top that performance with the Word Of the Day you might wonder?? Hold on to your knickers, because you don't want to miss this:

salubrious \suh-LOO-bree-us\, adjective:
Favorable to health; promoting health; healthful.

Definitely something I am NOT doing unless you count having a bottle of wine every weekend to be salubrious. Now try teaming that with last weeks objurgate and you have wonderful possibilties:
If you don't live a more salubrious life I will objurgate all knowledge of you!

Wow, where did that come from?? I am a closet poet, me.

I better get back to serious matters otherwise I might  just lose the few readers I have left *snigger*

Soooooo, you wanna know what my POW is this week?? And you want another chance of winning Albfsaid POW? Of course you do...

You might have noticed that of late I am terribly addicted to stamps and my new firm favourite are definitely the singles from (autumn leaves) . So reasonable to buy and so cute. My favourite at the moment has to be the butterfly (scroll to the bottom on above mentioned link to see) and if you leave a comment under this post your name will be entered into next weeks draw for this particular stamp.

Of course, you can always stop by the shop and buy the other designs :)

Happy Humpday everyone
